This type of solution is often called a “pay per lead” or ”pay per performance” agreement.  You know the life time value of your average customer and you know your normal closing percentage of sales leads to actual sales.  With these numbers it is very easy to figure out a “cost per sales lead” that works for you and is interesting enough for me to take the risk.
